Born on this Day: Michael Vartan

Born on Nov. 27, 1968, Michael Vartan’s first shot at stardom came when he appeared in the film To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Love, Julie Newmar. He then appeared in such films as The Myth of Fingerprints, One Hour Photo, Monster-in-Law, Never Been Kissed and Colombiana. He’s probably best known for his television roles, including Hawthorne and Alias.

Today’s Man Crush Monday honor goes to actor Chris Pine.

Pine has appeared in countless films, including Star Trek: Into Darkness and its sequel, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, People Like Us, This Means War, Bottle Shock and The Princess Diaries 2. Pine costars in Horrible Bosses 2, which is scheduled for release nationwide on November 26. He’ll also play ‘Cinderella’s Prince, aka Prince Charming,’ in Disney’s Into the Woods, which will be released on Christmas Day.

Born on this Day: Sally Field

 

Born on Nov. 6, 1946, Academy Award-winning actress, singer, producer, director and screenwriter Sally Field.

In 1965, Field began her acting career portraying Frances “Gidget” Lawrence, the girl-next-door, surfer girl in ABC-TV’s Gidget. Then in 1967, she portrayed Sister Bertrille in ABC-TV’s The Flying Nun. She then went on to star in many films, including Sybil, Norma Rae, Steel Magnolias, Punchline, Mrs. Doubtfire, Forrest Gump, Spider-Man and its sequel, and Lincoln.

In May 2014, after having a career that has spanned 49 years, Field finally received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.Β  πŸ™‚

Duran Duran’s ‘Astronaut’ Album Turns 10

On October 11, 2004, Duran Duran’s reunion album and CD, ‘Astronaut’ was released.

I was fortunate to have attended one of their shows to promote this album. In fact, it was my first Duran Duran show ever and I’ve been a fan of their music since I was a child! I must have had the biggest smile on my face when I heard “(Reach Up For The) Sunrise” for the first time on the radio and then I saw the video on MTV, which was still airing music videos back then πŸ˜‰
