Dancer and actress (and one of my favorites) Rita Hayworth was born on this day in 1918.
Sadly, Hayworth died on May 14, 1987, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

Born Oct. 17, 1918, Margarita Carmen Cansino was a dancer whose talent helped her dance her way into film screens where she soon became known as Rita Hayworth.
Hayworth, who was known as ‘The Love Goddess,’ worked primarily for Columbia Studios and was best known for films such as Blood and Sand, Pal Joey, Gilda and The Lady from Shanghai.
Sadly, Hayworth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 1980, which contributed to her death on May 14, 1987.

On May 14, 1989, actress and dancer Rita Hayworth, who was once dubbed as “The Love Goddess,” died. With over 60 films to her credit, Hayworth, who was born Margarita Carmen Cansino, had been suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease at the time of her death at age 68.

Margarita Carmen Cansino was born on this day in 1918. Many of you probably don’t know her as Margarita because she was better known as dancer and film actress Rita Hayworth, aka “The Love Goddess.” Hayworth starred in numerous films, including Gilda, The Lady From Shanghai and Cover Girl.
