Born Oct. 17, 1918, Margarita Carmen Cansino was a dancer whose talent helped her dance her way into film screens where she soon became known as Rita Hayworth.
Hayworth, who was known as ‘The Love Goddess,’ worked primarily for Columbia Studios and was best known for films such as Blood and Sand, Pal Joey, Gilda and The Lady from Shanghai.
Sadly, Hayworth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 1980, which contributed to her death on May 14, 1987.
