I finally got to see the film Miracles From Heaven, starring Jennifer Garner and Martin Henderson. The film centers on Anna Beam, a 10-year-old girl from Burleson, Texas, who lives with a rare, incurable disorder in which she’s unable to digest food. Her devoted mother Christy (played by Garner) doesn’t stop in trying to save her daughter.
My mother–who hadn’t been to the movies “in ages”–accompanied me and I’m glad she did because the film really touched the both of us. It reminded me of what I was feeling when my mother was in the hospital last July. π¦
Miracles From Heaven was by far one of the best films Iβve seen to date. Just a warning: bring a couple packs of Kleenex with you because you’re going to need them!
Kudos to Kylie Rogers, the young actress who portrays Garner and Hendersonβs ill daughter, Anna. She did an amazing job in the role!
All I’ll say about the film is this: Heartwarming. Funny. Sad. Faith. Miracles. π¦ π

My mission in life is not merely to survive, but to thrive; and to do so with some passion, some compassion, some humor and some style. ~Maya Angelou

Happy Birthday to actor, singer, musician, television director, author and The Monkees drummer, Micky Dolenz!

Born on Mar. 2, 1950, Karen Carpenter was best known for being one half of the popular 1970’s singing duo The Carpenters, alongside her brother, Richard.
Sadly, Carpenter died on Feb. 4, 1983 due to emetine cardiotoxicity, due to anorexia nervosa. She was 32.

Desiderio Alberto Arnaz y de Acha III, better known as Desi Arnaz, Sr., was born on Mar. 2, 1917. Of course, people all over the world know him best as Lucille Ball’s former husband and from their television comedy series I Love Lucy.
Arnaz was diagnosed with lung cancer in 1986 and died on Dec. 2, 1986, at the age of 69.

It has been exactly four years since actor, musician, singer, songwriter, author and one-fourth member of the 1960’s band The Monkees, Davy Jones, died of a severe heart attack at the age of 66.
I was fortunate to have met Davy briefly just seven months before he died. I’ve met a few celebrities in my life and have never been starstruck because I know they’re human, just like you and me. The ones who I’ve met have been nice and friendly. However, meeting The Monkees, especially Davy, was different. Maybe it was because The Monkees and their music were a part of my childhood (I wasn’t born when the television series The Monkees first aired, but I watched reruns of it every summer when it aired in syndication) and because he was my first (celeb) crush.
From the music he performed with The Monkees and in his solo career, to portraying himself on an episode of The Brady Bunch, he brought a lot of smiles and happiness to many people, including myself. πΒ π€Β πΆΒ π΅Β π
