Born On This Day: Cheryl Ladd

Happy Birthday to actress, singer and author, Cheryl Ladd, who is best known for portraying Kris Munroe–sister to the Farrah Fawcett character Jill Munroe–in the ABC television series Charlie’s Angels.

Ladd also provided the singing voice for the Melody Valentine character in the 1970’s Hanna-Barbera cartoon series Josie and the Pussycats, and made numerous appearances in other films and television shows, like NBC-TV’s Las Vegas.  😀

Born On This Day: Rick Nelson

Born on this day in 1940: Actor, singer, songwriter and musician Rick ‘Ricky’ Nelson, best known for appearing as himself in his parents’ long-running television sitcom, The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet.

Nelson is also known for such classic songs, like “Hello Mary Lou,” “Travelin’ Man” and “Garden Party,” and also starred in the 1959 film Rio Bravo with John Wayne and Dean Martin.

On Dec. 31, 1985, Nelson, his fiancee Helen Blair and five of Nelson’s band members were killed when their plane crashed in DeKalb, Texas. Nelson was 45.

Born On This Day: Carol Burnett

Happy Birthday to one of my favorite comediennes, actress Carol Burnett.

And today marks the 27th anniversary of the death of comedy legend Lucille Ball, who was a mentor and good friend to Burnett. In fact, every year, Ball would send flowers to Burnett on her birthday. Ball died the morning of April 26th and the flowers she sent to Burnett arrived the afternoon of her death.
