Born George Michael Dolenz on March 8, 1945, Micky Dolenz–then known as Micky Braddock–became a child star at the age of 11 while starring in the 1950’s television show Circus Boy. In 1966, at age 21, Micky–who now went by his real last name–was chosen to star alongside fellow child actor and singer Davy Jones and musicians Michael Nesmith and Peter Tork, in the NBC television comedy series The Monkees.
Since The Monkees, Micky lived in the U.K. for several years in which he created and produced a children’s television show, as well as directing and producing stage and television shows.
In 1986, MTV helped to re-ignite the resurgence of The Monkees when they aired reruns of the television series. It was during this same year that Dolenz and his bandmates Jones and Tork reunited to celebrate the band’s 20th anniversary and went on tour. During On Sept. 7, 1986, Micky, Davy and Peter performed at L.A.’s Greek Theatre when they were joined by absentee bandmate Michael Nesmith, who had left the band in 1970.
Since then, The MonkeesΒ (minus Nesmith) have reunited several times over the years to perform in concert together. However, after Jones’s untimely death on Feb, 29, 2012, Nesmith rejoined the band to help celebrate Jones’s memory and time with The Monkees.
Happy 70th Birthday, Micky! π°

Today’s honor goes to someone who has been on my radar since I first saw The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement and that is Chris Pine. βΊ
Pine is no stranger to film or television. He made his first TV appearance in 2003 in the shows ER, The Guardian and CSI: Miami. His first film role came in 2004 in The Princess Diaries 2 and has starred in other films, including Bottle Shock, both Star Trek franchise films, This Means War, People Like Us and Into the Woods.
Pine comes from an acting family. His maternal grandparents were in the entertainment industry and his parents, Robert Pine and Gwynne Gilford are also actors. Robert Pine is best known for his role as Sgt. Joseph Getraer on CHiPs.
Next up for Pine is starring in the films Z for Zachariah, The Finest Hours, Star Trek 3 and he’ll make an appearance in the TV series Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp on Netflix.

So I guess I missed watching the part of the Academy Awards/Oscars where John Legend and Common sang “Glory.” Apparently, the cameraman zoomed in on several celebrities, including Chris Pine, who shed a tear.
Well, I guess it’s apparent: Chris Pine is the strong and sensitive (and my) type. π

Today’s Man Crush Monday honor goes to New Zealand actor Karl Urban, who is best known for his work as Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy in the Star Trek film franchise.
Urban as appeared in many other films and television shows. He recently starred in the FOX drama Almost Human and has appeared in films, like The Bourne Supremacy, The Lord of the Rings series and in The Chronicles of Riddick. He will star alongside James Marsden, Eric Stonestreet and Wentworth Miller in the new film The Loft, and will reprise his role as “Bones” in the Star Trek 3 film, which is slated for release in 2016.
I just have one question. What is up with New Zealand…importing all the hot ‘Kiwis’ to the U.S.? First Martin Henderson and now Karl Urban! π

Remembering singer-songwriter, musician and actor Rick ‘Ricky’ Nelson, who died 29 years ago today in DeKalb, TX…along with his fiancΓ© and band members from his Stone Canyon band.
The group was traveling to Dallas to perform at a New Year’s Eve concert when the plane they traveled in crashed. The cause of the crash was determined to be mechanical problems.
Here’s one of my favorite songs by Rick Nelson.

Merry Christmas…Feliz Navidad…Mele Kalikimaka…Buon Natale…Joyeux NoΓ«l and Frohe Weihnachten! π π

Today’s Man Crush Monday honor is awarded to actor Paul Rudd.
Rudd began his acting career portraying Ashley Judd’s husband Kirby in the NBC drama Sisters. He is best known for playing Josh, Cher’s former stepbrother in the ’90s film Clueless. Since then, Rudd has appeared in numerous film and TV roles, including Friends, This Is 40, Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy and its sequel, Anchorman: The Legend Continues, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, The Object of My Affection and Romeo+Juliet.
His next role will be playing superhero Ant-Man, aka Scott Lang, in Marvel Comics’ Ant-Man, which is scheduled for release in theaters in July 2015.

Today’s Man Crush Monday honor goes to actor Dermot Mulroney, who has starred in countless films, including The Wedding Date, My Best Friend’s Wedding, About Schmidt, August: Osage County and How To Make an American Quilt.
Mulroney has also appeared in many television shows, including New Girl, Friends and Crisis.
By the way, Dermot Mulroney is NOT actor Dylan McDermott! π

This is what I’m currently going through. Oh, and working in groups with people who want to wait until the last minute to input their part = UGH!!Β Thank goodness the semester is almost over!
