Born On This Day: Cheryl Ladd


Happy Birthday to actress, singer and author, Cheryl Ladd, who is best known for portraying Kris Munroe–sister to the Farrah Fawcett character Jill Munroe–in the ABC television series Charlie’s Angels.

Ladd also provided the singing voice for the Melody Valentine character in the 1970’s Hanna-Barbera cartoon series Josie and the Pussycats, and made numerous appearances in other films and television shows, like NBC-TV’s Las Vegas.Β  πŸ˜€

Oscar-winning Actress Patty Duke Dies

Actress Patty Duke, who at 16-years-old won an Academy Award for portraying Helen Keller in the 1962 film The Miracle WorkerΒ and who starred as cousins Patty and Cathy Lane in the 1960’s comedy series The Patty Duke Show, as well as starred in other countless film and televisions roles, died early Tuesday of sepsis from a ruptured intestine. She was 69.

Born On This Day: Rita Hayworth

Born Oct. 17, 1918, Margarita Carmen Cansino was a dancer whose talent helped her dance her way into film screens where she soon became known as Rita Hayworth.

Hayworth, who was known as ‘The Love Goddess,’ worked primarily for Columbia Studios and was best known for films such as Blood and Sand, Pal Joey, Gilda and The Lady from Shanghai.

Sadly, Hayworth was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease in 1980, which contributed to her death on May 14, 1987.

Remembering Grace Kelly

 

It was 33 years ago today, on Sept. 14, 1982, that Princess Grace of Monaco–better known as Grace Kelly–died.

Just 52-years-old at the time, Kelly had suffered a stroke when she crashed her vehicle and drove off a steep, winding road and down a mountainside. The cause of her death was due to complications resulting from the stroke and numerous other injuries. Her youngest daughter, Princess Stephanie, survived the crash.

Kelly was best known as an actress from the 1950’s and 1960’s and starred in such classics as High Noon, Rear Window, To Catch A Thief, High Society and The Country Girl–in which she won an Academy Award for Best Actress.  🎦  πŸ‘‘

‘Can’t Buy Me Love’ actress Amanda Peterson has died

 

Former child star, actress Amanda Peterson has died. Peterson was best known for her role in the film Can’t Buy Me Love, which co-starred Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy fame. Peterson was 43.

According to her father, she had been suffering from some recent illnesses. She was found dead on July 5 after her family had grown concern that they had not heard from her. An official cause of death has not yet been determined.

Peterson began her career in the early 1980’s and appeared in countless TV roles, including Doogie Howser, M.D,. Silver Spoons, Boone, A Year in the Life and in the movie musical Annie and Explorers (with Ethan Hawke). She continued acting into the early 1990’s. According to her IMDB page, her last film role was in 1994, in the film Windrunner.

Peterson would have celebrated her 44th birthday on July 8. She is survived by her husband David Hartley and their daughter.
