Today’s MCM honor goes to longtime Duran Duran drummer Roger Taylor. 🙂

Eleven years ago today, Duran Duran’s 12th album/CD, Astronaut, was released. The album includes the songs “(Reach Up For The) Sunrise,” “Astronaut,” “Nice” “and “Whatever Happens Tomorrow.”
Here’s one of my favorite songs off the album.
When Duran Duran released the song “Serious” on Oct. 1, 1990, it was during this time when the band consisted of only 3 original members: Simon Le Bon, John Taylor and Nick Rhodes. During this phase, the band was joined by guitarist Warren Cuccurullo (formerly of the band Missing Persons, which he also co-founded) and drummer Sterling Campbell.
Twenty-five-years later, I hope they’ll perform this song on October 2, when my friends and I see them in concert. ☺
Last week, Duran Duran released their newest single in five years. The single titled “Pressure Off” features Janelle Monáe on guest vocals and Niles Rodgers, co-founder and lead guitarist of the band Chic. The song has been garnered as one of the band’s “best singles in years.” Rodgers and Mark Ronson co-produced the song, as well as the upcoming album.
Duran Duran’s 14th album, Paper Gods, is scheduled for release Sept. 18.
What do you think of the new song?

It’s Throwback Thursday and I thought I’d play some music by one of my favorite bands. 🙂

On October 11, 2004, Duran Duran’s reunion album and CD, ‘Astronaut’ was released.
I was fortunate to have attended one of their shows to promote this album. In fact, it was my first Duran Duran show ever and I’ve been a fan of their music since I was a child! I must have had the biggest smile on my face when I heard “(Reach Up For The) Sunrise” for the first time on the radio and then I saw the video on MTV, which was still airing music videos back then 😉
Here’s one of my favorite songs from ‘Astronaut’…
